Design Spotlight: High-Gloss Interiors

High gloss paint and lacquer are staple features in many of our interiors for both aesthetic and practical reasons. The high-shine finish reflects light, creating more dynamic spaces that are durable, easy to clean, and effortlessly elevated.

We love the sophisticated and dramatic look of lacquered walls and millwork. We’re highlighting a few of our favorite spaces to include a glossy moment, from the foyer to the closet and everything in between.

Foyer

High-gloss lacquer in the entryway makes an unforgettable first impression. The entry of our Fifth Avenue Pied-à-Terre showcases traditional lacquered wood veneer, grounding the space with warmth while still offering a refined glass-like sheen. In contrast, our Glamour on Park apartment uses lacquered door frames and baseboards to create an interesting interplay of glossy and matte elements.

Kitchen

In our Gold Coast Townhouse, a bold, high-gloss blue island adds energy and dimension, becoming the centerpiece of the room. Our Madison Square Park kitchen features high gloss white millwork, which lends a modern feel. With the light shining in, the high-shine finish gives a subtle yet striking glow.

Living Room

A glossy finish can also help accentuate architectural details. In the living room of our Uptown Eclectic apartment, a grey high gloss finish highlights the grid paneling and molding on the walls. The subtle hue keeps the shiny finish from dominating the space, bringing balance and restraint.

Bar

In the bar, mirror-like finishes amplify the mood, infusing the space with drama and allure while making intimate rooms feel larger, more open, and undeniably glamorous. In our Gold Coast Townhouse, glass pendants shimmer against a glossy blue finish, casting sparkling reflections across the walls and ceiling. At the Luxe Urban Expansion, traditional lacquered wood paneling introduces both shine and a sense of history.

Powder Room

Powder rooms are ideal for bold design choices. In our Central Park South project, glossy, bright pink walls create an energetic, one-of-a-kind atmosphere. When paired with timeless fixtures and finishes, the daring choice feels balanced, sophisticated, and entirely at home in the overall design.

Closet

Gloss finishes bring just the right touch of glamour to wardrobe spaces, transforming them from purely functional rooms into inspiring settings for self-expression. In our Luxe Urban Expansion, glossy millwork pairs seamlessly with a deep teal carpet, creating a cohesive and moody color story. The sleek, glass-like finish elevates the cabinetry, giving it a bespoke feel. In contrast, the crisp white millwork of our Red Mountain home keeps the closet bright, open, and airy. At Glamour on Park, a striking black-and-white lacquered design epitomizes drama, lending the space a bold Art Deco flair.
